Continuing the quality of education of your children

When a family is moving, identifying and securing school places is the key factor in the success or failure of the relocation. Recognising the importance of supporting the family in this vital area, we work with a dedicated Education Consultant who can provide tailored assistance in finding school places in public, independent or international sectors.

Our recommendation when a family is involved is to ensure that educational requirements are addressed at the outset of the relocation. This has the effect of highlighting any specialist schooling needs, but can also determine the area or areas to be considered within the property search as the two objectives are so closely interlinked.

As with all of our services, our Education Consultant will adapt the support to be provided according to the family’s exact requirements, which are explored during an initial telephone consultation. Any specialist needs can therefore be highlighted at an early stage in the process, and the level of assistance to be provided agreed in advance with the client.

A typical package of information supplied to the employee and family may include:

• Address and telephone numbers of local education offices
• Relevant information on the appropriate local education authorities, to include such items as admissions policy, age of transfer and selection
• Detailed information on appropriate schools – state or independent
• A ‘Guide to Choosing a School’ or a ‘Guide to Education in the UK’ or ‘Guide to Scottish Education’ brochures

Additional support, depending on the needs of the family, is also available:

• Testing of the children where appropriate
• Support in arranging school visits when the employee and their family arrive in the UK
• Expert support in the appeal process if required school place is not available
